Thank you Longlevens
Paul would like to thank everyone who supported him in Mays City Council election.
Paul was re-elected to serve you, with a greatly-increased majority of over 700.
He said, I am very grateful for the confidence that people in Longlevens have shown in me. I will do my best to serve the area well and to help everyone, whether or not they voted for me.
The result was: Paul James 1962 Lib-Dems 1256 Labour 215.
Paul will continue to serve alongside Mark Hawthorne on the City Council and with Kathy Williams as your County Councillor.
Paygrove Lane
We are pressing the County Council for a timetable for their promised consultation on the future of the fields and we will be meeting their Cabinet Member responsible in the near future. The City Councils Local Development Framework will be completed soon, which will confirm the planning status of the two pieces of land. It seems likely that their protected status will continue.
Estcourt Road
The footbridge is due to come down either late this year or early next. We will advise you as soon as we have a firm date.
Youth Work
We are continuing to work with the Police, Youth Service, local Youth Council and others to increase the facilities available for youth in the area. Several local businesses have generously donated money to buy equipment for the group.
Staverton Airport
A few people have mentioned problems with low-flying aircraft from Staverton. Now is an important time in the Airports future and wed like to hear your views on it.
Innsworth Lane
The new sports pitches should be handed over from the developer soon. There is also a large area of council-owned land adjoining it, running alongside the bypass as far as Evergreen Walk. It is not well-maintained at the moment. We would like to hear your views on what should be done with it. Should it be informal for dog-walking etc, or something else?
Surgeries
Our next surgeries will be:
Saturday 1st July 11am-12.00pm, The Greyhound Inn, Greyhound Gardens
Saturday 5th August 11am-12.00pm, The Glevum Inn, Oxstalls Way
