Traders and car booters using Gloucester City Council’s purpose-built Hempsted Meadow site will be getting their own New Year bargain.
Operating prices are being dropped for the whole of January – a traditional quiet month for markets.
Winter prices are already reduced to £7 for car booters and £15 for traders. But a special January offer is being made of £5 and £10.
Council Leader, Paul James, commented: “After Christmas and the New Year January can be a hard month for everyone. As a one-off gesture we want to help encourage traders to come to the markets. That in turn will encourage people to come and shop.
“So it is our contribution to the market community. We hope they will take advantage of it and that local people will continue to support our markets through the winter months.”
Hempsted Market operates on Wednesday and Sunday.
